Some say, it takes more than courage itself to apologise and say sorry. More so when you are apologising on things that you didn’t do, in this case on behalf of someone else.
Statement from UMNO Chief Division, Ahmad Ismail is rather idiotic if i may say so, however to err is human, nobody is an angel. Though it seems that this has been blown out of proportion especially by the agressive moves by PR’s people in order to put a constant attack on UMNO, lest we not forget, not a long time ago, the same tone of remarks were shouted in a demonstration against Bar Council forum on Islam.
For the record, YB Zul an MP from PKR was heavily criticised by top PR leaders (except of PAS’s) for defending the sensitivity of muslims and the religion of Islam. Shoutings and racial remarks were thrown to the exiting forumers after Bar Council President called it a day. However, the issue was silenced and YB Zul escape not only the seditious act (for leading the group) and also stern action from party as warned by Syed Husin Ali, the VP for PKR.
A blogger, Jebat Must Die, went all out with his article, putting PR responsible for propagating racism. I do believe to a certain extent that, he did highlight few things which is quite suspicious in nature.
“Kami minta maaf, UMNO meminta maaf walaupun ia bukan kenyataan kami tetapi kenyataan itu telah dibuat oleh seorang daripada ketua bahagian kami. Ianya tidak wajar dan tidak mencerminkan pendirian dan sikap UMNO atau kepimpinan UMNO. Kami benar-benar kesal dengan perkara itu,” kata Timbalan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, yang juga Timbalan Presiden UMNO di sini hari ini.
Najib’s apology on behalf of UMNO would somehow bring down UMNO’s arrogance. Not only it brings down the arrogance, it does signify the true culture of a Malay, a humble Malay.
