Another surprise move by Malaysian version of Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Nearly 24 hours after stunning the nation with a statutory declaration claiming a senior’s politician had sexual intercouse with Altantuya, PI Balasubramaniam retracts part of his SD today.
Among the parts retracted are that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak introduced Razak to Mongolian murder victim Altantuya Shaariibuu and that Najib had a sexual relationship with her – The Star
In addition to this, he also stated that he was forced to sign yesterday’s statutory declaration by someone unnamed by him. Even his lawyer Mr. Americk Singh Sindhu doesn’t know of this retraction and I was informed that Bala didn’t take any questions after this morning’s the press conference.
Balasubramaniam juga mempunyai peguam yang baru. Peguam Americk Sidhu, yang bersamanya semalam, juga tidak tahu apa yang sedang berlaku – Malaysiakini
For the record, Bala also claimed that he was also forced to sign the police statement while he was detained in relation to Altantuya’s murder investigation.
So guys, the questions now are:
1. How far reliable is Bala’s words?
2. Can statutory declaration be trusted as the ‘truest evidence’?
3. How much damage does this retraction brought on Bala’s credibility?
4. Finally, the most important of all, who is playing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle behind the scene?
Some supporters of Anwar might have a lower tone regarding this matter, unlike yesterday. That’s one of the reasons why I would rather be in the middle.
More statutory declarations coming? Commissioner of Oaths would love it!
