Israelis MUST stop killing Palestinians at once!! ~ Ref Malaysiakini

December 29, 2008

I switched on my television and this news was reported in SkyNews. Total number of 315 Palestinians killed of which 51 is civilians, while 1 Israelis dead from a missile shot by Hamas. By the way, they reported Gerrard being held by Police due to assault first, followed by this ‘not-so-important-to-them’ news of the atrocities created by Israel.

SkyNews kept on talking about the one Israelis casualty instead of the 315 and increasing number of the death of innocent Palestinian in an attack which is intended to wipe out the whole Palestine territory from the world map.

This is a crime in broad day light, and yet UN is keeping mum, and the self proclaimed ‘World Police’ is doing nothing either.

Malaysia’s ex-Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir in his usual skeptical yet eye-opening article stressed on this modern day terrorism.

http://test.chedet.com/che_det/2008/12/terrorism.html

11. Not only were they defeated but Israel grabbed more Arab land. At each attempt to regain Palestinian land, Israel together with America and Britain seized more Arab land.

12. In the area of Palestine which the Israelis have not seized, Jewish settlements were set up. Roads were built on Arab land which the Arab Palestinians are not allowed to use. High walls are built to break up Arab villages, preventing the villagers from contacting their close relatives even.

13. In the meanwhile the world watched the expulsion of Arab Palestinian and their plight with little concern and less sympathy.

14. Against the powerful Israeli forces the Palestinians could do nothing. They have no guns or tanks or fighter planes. Angry and frustrated they tried guerrilla war. But this was to no avail.

I urge all readers to at least have some heart and demand this unlawful, disrespectful act of modern terrorism to STOP. And it must be stopped immediately and the leader of Israel must be brought to war criminal court.

I quote from George W. Bush..

” … I think War is a dangerous place…”, and yet he was the one responsible for the war in almost all middle east countries.

Thank God he is no more President of United States in days to come. Will Obama bring new Hope to the Palestinians? Did I hear more of “Yes he can” or “No he can’t”?

I strongly condemn the war, and urge all leaders in this world to urge Israel to stop this war by any means possible.

Hudud: Husam’s quick U-turn ~ Ref Malaysiakini

December 23, 2008

My previous article entitled “PR: It’s complicated” is referred.

husamanwar2I watched how Husam pointed his finger while saying ‘Kita akan buat’, in replying Khairy’s challenge of implementing Hudud Law once PR control the fed gov. I was happy that PAS had a vice president that showed consistency and perseverance in championing Hudud, at least PAS still has some of it’s original identity intact.

Husam’s reply to Khairy’s challenge was quick, Lim Kit Siang was quicker when he posted an article to ‘warn’ Husam, while demanding Husam to clarify his statement. I don’t know by the word clarify he meant retract or what.

But wait.. not long after that fiery words with full of confidence mouthed by Husam, he produced another statement, as ‘ordered’ by LKS and son, and not by Pas President himself. And this time, every single words he said soothes LKS and DAP’s ears. One problem sorted for DAP, they don’t have to answer to their members who yearn for secular Malaysia. DAP is very lucky to have PAS as a political friend, “pandai jaga hati kawan, walaupun hati sendiri terluka”.

Husam in Malaysiakini

Khairy posted an article entitled “Transformasi politik Husam” – a cheeky title isn’t it? – to put a point in his unfinished war of words with Husam. I qoute here..

Dicabar kekanan, digertak kekiri.

Wallahualam.

Mohd Sayuti Omar (MSO), a veteran journalist criticized Husam’s political U-turn, without taking into consideration the implication of such action towards the credibility to the noble law. Needless to say, MSO is a big ‘fan’ of Husam, therefore he had chosen the best words to best describe his ‘happiness’ in related to Husam’s way of politics. The rest of the article can be assessed here.

Deemed as the next Kelantan MB, replacing Tuan Guru Nik Aziz, Husam must now clarify to all PAS members on his political U-turn, is it just to favor DAP or is it solely a slip of his tongue when he uttered the word “Kita akan buat”. My question to Husam is, “Buat apa?”, I imagine he replied in the same selamba tone when he perli Khairy, “Kita akan buat apa DAP suruh”. Point delivered.

Husam: Lambat lagi nak laksana Hudud

PR: It’s complicated

December 22, 2008

love_hate_relationship_by_chrometourmaline-21Some call it a marriage of convenience, some even say it is a loose alliance, but for me I would stick to my opinion that is, this whole ‘pakatan’ is a political love-hate relationship or simply described as “it’s complicated”, a catch phrase popularised by social network Friendster. While the big guns such as Lim Kit Siang, Anwar Ibrahim, Husam and the gang think 080303 was a tsunami of political transformation, I chose to think that nothing actually changed except, voters dissociate themselves from BN merely as a sign of protest and discontenment.

In a recent debate between Husam, Khairy and Prof Aziz Bari, moderated by Prof Agus of Hujah at TV9, the topic “Transformasi Politik” is discussed. While Husam clearly propagating and at the same time defending 16th September’s unfinished ‘business’ – masterminded by Husam new best friend – Anwar Ibrahim, Khairy’s definition to this political transformation included this two-prongs approach. Firstly, Khairy stressed that protest votes aren’t positive votes, with exception of Kelantan (Husam cheekily shot down Khairy’s “18 tahun pade doh” campaign to capture Kelantan in GE12). Secondly, not only BN-PR change of votes, but intraparty transformation also took place as a result of previous GE.

Arrogance of power (AoP) is also a term that is new to some of the audience in the hall. Husam referred to Khairy’s remark on Bersih protesters as ’street monkeys’ to point out the AoP in UMNO. Khairy quickly brought the audience back to 16th September plan in which he claimed as a showcase of arrogance of power in PR, adding to his previous comment saying that this AoP is contagious, and spread much quicker than Husam might have thought. Whenever there are opportunities to personally attack Khairy, Husam never failed to capitalize, much to the disappointment of supporters of Khairy who obviously outmuscled by the armies in ‘white ketayap’.

In an attempt to counter numerous bullets, Khairy did try to implicate Husam as Erdogan’s fraction of Pas and ’sincerely’ supporting Husam for PAS precidency come next PAS party election next year. Husam unsportingly refused to support Khairy’s plight for UMNO Youth Chief, maybe too much to ask for.

As expected, in a debate of such credentials, the stage of two political gladiators, as described as Prof Aziz Bari in his opening speech, few challenges being thrown to each other. The one that made the headline in the next day’s newspaper was Husam’s words of implementing Hudud Law once PR manage to wrestle out BN from Putrajaya. Thanks to Khairy’s challenge, now Husam had just thrown his de facto leader a big headache come Kuala Terengganu bye-election not so far from today. Is this a calculated move by Khairy, to fish issue to be put into the BN’s warchest for KT bye election or is it just merely a rhetorical challenge (a challenge as a result of Husam’s continuous attempts to taint Khairy’s image in front of Kelantanese politic enthusiasts)

Unsurprisingly, PAS’s pro-secular companion, DAP, another member of PR, without any hesitation responded in hostile to the Hudud pledge by PAS’s Vice President – a knee-jerk reflex by DAP’s stalwart LKS. ‘Husam must come with his own clarification to the pledge’ and ‘DAP’s stand on secular character of Malaysian nation and state remain unchanged’, those are the outcomes of the knee-jerk. And now another round of Hudud debate is about to begin (or had just begun). Hopefuly this time no one will want to sue whoever who wants to implement Hudud Law. I wonder what happen to the person who few years ago wanted to bring this Hudud case to the court, is he with PAS or PKR now? or DAP? I believe DAP is a better place to be for him.

Now, PAS-DAP relationship will again increases to the boiling temperature, there were nothing to be proud of in their past relationship histories to begin with, so this latest ‘quarrel’ will be a real test. To quote from Khairy, which I believe did a good job that night (credit is due when it’s due), PR is as Malay adage goes “retak menanti belah” boldly translated to “an imminent destruction waiting to happen”, I believe Anwar Ibrahim, with his now reduced amount of credibility, need to do something, tactfully, promptly and quickly. Is this a damage beyond repair?

PAS-PKR-DAP is a pact (not a formal alliance) based on convenience, they work together to fight BN in GE12 and decided to forget the grudges, discontements, and fundamental differents in political pillars between each other for a short period of time. Most of the time PKR is the gelling agent, Anwar as the main mediator. But now, PAS is splitting to two, thanks to Anwar, some PAS members believe onlyAnwar is suitable to become PM, and not their own PAS president. Therefore, fair enough to say the ‘PAS Tulin’ fraction have some sort of reservation towards Anwar now, more than ever before perhaps. It’s really a complicated relationship, maybe love-hate is not the best description because there’s no love to start with.

Machiavellian politic permits any actions, as long as the goals are reached. My prayers are that hopefully PAS (in this case), or any other political parties in Malaysia won’t resort to Machiavelli’s school of tought. Matlamat tidak menghalalkan cara.

A media coverage from Malaysiakini vis-a-vis this Hudud issue is expected, however they prefer to publish a news from ‘unnamed source’ to somewhat cast doubts in BN’s candidate chance to win the election. Malaysiakini will only publish views and news that matter to their hidden agenda, that is to ensure Anwar’s dream materialize. Everytime I read Malaysiakini, the confident face of Premesh, the CEO of Malaysiakini, trying to convinced the audience at Projek Amanat Negara V (PAN V) organized by UKEC of the number of MPs Anwar had in his pocket. The only thing Premesh forgot to mention is Anwar’s pocket has got hole in it.

The possibilities that Malaysia will turn to bi-partisan politics intrigued me, however I think I will not too much hope into it, as Mat Sabu put it, “pakatan ini longgar”.

I viewed PR for once as an aeroplane in autopilot, since the three pilots seems to be in different views with each other most of the time, however, I’m wrong. The aeroplane is not in autopilot, it is controlled by just one party – which I will not name it here – I just don’t want to spoil the surprise and what more to insult anyone’s intelligence. Over to you.

IJN must not be made private ~ Malaysiakini

December 18, 2008

The first time I heard about such bold effort to privatize IJN is through Rockybru, he had expressed his dissatisfaction and is really against such move. He had written two almost similar posts about this, that shows how serious he is in not wanting to see this materialize.

http://rockybru.com.my/2008/12/hands-off-ijn-please.html

http://rockybru.com.my/2008/12/once-again-hands-off-ijn-please.html

IJN is world renowned. Nobody can deny that not even those Mahathir haters as Rockybru put in writings..

“p.s. Mahathir haters, take note: I’ve stated in a comment in response to some commenters under my last posting that it was Dr Mahathir, in his usual dictatorial way, who forced the Barisan Nasional government back then to put heart and soul into the creation of the IJN.”

As for me it’s easy for us to complaint and oppose, but let’s make life easier to both sides. We give them why we oppose this and not only that we offer them solutions. Isn’t that a much more honorable way to oppose. Principle (and dignity) intact.

Why IJN shouldn’t be made private?

1. The poor are the one who benefited a lot from the establishment of IJN. Let’s give some air to breathe to the MoF and Sime Darby, come out with plan of action that can convince us that the poor will not be left out in pursue of maximum profit (capitalism vs socialism?).

2. IJN is government’s pride. Ministry of Health should be the one who are really strong against this move. Why? IJN for since it was opened had proved that Malaysia is at par with other countries when it comes health management. I went to a specialist lectures the other day that suggest Irish government to pick Malaysia as their health tourist place of choice. They have confidence in our specialists and healthcare system (though, forex is also a factor).

3. Many chronic illnesses centers here in Ireland is funded by government and is run by government funded hospital. Of course this is the only short cut way so that the government can be directly linked to improving the health of the citizens (rakyat). Again, MoH must fight for IJN.

4. If the argument is on the competitiveness in salary payment. I believe consultans/surgeons they are earning more than they can imagine, enough for few generations already. They might think of doing some sort of national service. So by privatizing IJN or any other similar centers, soon the consultants/specialist will shy away from the system. Even now, the consultants don’t stick to one hospital, they do have clinics, surgeries done in private center anyway, they have their private-public weekly schedule.

5. Instead, government should spend more on establishing such internationally renowned and certified health centers. That will surely lure many bright consultants and specialist into government service. For instance, an Irish consultant were called by the government (or the hospital) back to Dublin and run a hepatopancreaticobilliary center in one of the main public hospital in Dublin. Speaking about brain gain, this is not ordinary brain they gained, it is an Irish-born-American-trained consultant’s brain!

6. Okay, understanding Sime Darby capitalistic (profit first) approach, we should give some recommendation to them. Why not just offer only a section of the IJN to be privatized, like a few wards or so. This way, the poor can still be look after by the government involvement, and Sime Darby can by all means profit from the paying private patients. Provided that Sime Darby must play it’s CSR role in maintaining IJN and by offering slightly better salary plan to the staffs.

Looking back at these past 2 days development, I think this kind of discussion/debate from certain pressure group is healthy. There are a lot of things in this world that we don’t share in common between us, but the main thing is the benefit will outweigh the maleficence. Whatever decision they reached to, the poor must profit the most, not Sime Darby or government.
